Editor

Current position

Editor, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

I copyedit and proofread various publications and outreach products to ensure technical accuracy, apply FAOSTYLE (2023), and improve usability, clarity, fluidity, conciseness, and consistency. I am an approved Copy Editor, Manuscript Editor and Proofreader on the PSA.EDI Roster.

Copyedited and/or proofread outputs have included:

  • reports and case studies;

  • web content (e.g. articles, news updates, blog posts, landing pages, websites);

  • technical documentation;

  • presentations;

  • flyers and informative notes;

  • concept notes and event invitations; and

  • learning materials for an FAO elearning Academy MOOC (e.g. handouts, presentations).

Written and/or developed outputs have included:

  • style guide for technical documentation;

  • presentations providing feedback and guidance;

  • frameworks for brainstorming and planning projects; and

  • reference lists.

In addition to copyediting and proofreading, I provide global-level feedback to:

  • increase audience engagement;

  • improve user experience;

  • unify voice and style; and

  • communicate key points to target audiences.

Recent achievements have included:

  • Syle guide, technical documentation and website: When hired to copyedit technical documentation for a land monitoring tool, I created a style guide to keep writing useful, clear, concise, consistent and fluid across the website. I also transformed the landing page to improve user experience and increase audience engagement. I went on to apply the style and copyedit the documentation. I will train the team on the style guide in early-2024. I have copyedited and proofread many types of similar publications, such as project websites and platform landing pages.

  • Comparative study, concept note and event invitation: After copyediting a comparative study on carbon rights, I copyedited a concept note and event invitation for the publication launch. This included applying FAOSTYLE (2023), as well as finding ways to better communicate key points to target audiences and increase engagement. I have copyedited and proofread many other types of similar publications, such as: web content (e.g. articles, news updates, blog posts, landing pages); presentations; flyers, leaflets, posters and informative notes; and learning materials for an FAO elearning Academy MOOC (e.g. handouts, presentations).

  • White paper: I copyedited and later proofread a white paper on good practices in sample-based area estimation. This included applying FAOSTYLE (2023).
